When Matija Gačnik built the first health building in 1624, he commemorated it by embedding a marble nameplate above the pool, which is preserved to this day. Perhaps unknowingly, he laid the solid foundations for the development of what is now the oldest functioning spa in Slovenia, Terme Dobrna.
History records the dedication of various owners to the development of the spa "Bad Neuhaus bei Cilli," where a unique healing thermal water springs up at the site of the former cart path, attracting visitors from near and far for centuries.
Did you know that in 1853, Johann Strauss Jr. stayed with us after a serious illness and during his stay, composed a polka named after the spa: Die Neuhauser-Polka?!
The former café Mlečna Marijanca, later Letna kavarna, was built during the time of Count Hoyos, after 1847. The ground floor housed a dairy and a café, while the upper floor had guest rooms. Guests would visit the café for whey, fresh milk, and coffee, while ladies especially enjoyed the chocolate. Drinking whey was part of the spa treatment program at that time.
The event Center Mlečna Marijanca, with its magnificent ambiance and exceptional location in the spa park, offers a unique venue for business and private events.
The Panorama Hall (115 m2) can accommodate up to 120 people. It features the latest presentation equipment and is suitable for seminars, conferences, symposiums, team-building events, as well as personal celebrations and weddings. The hall's specialty is its natural wood floor, making it ideal for themed events such as dance, yoga, and other sports and recreational activities, and it boasts exceptional natural light from 50 m2 of window space.
The Salon Hall (31 m2) ensures privacy for your business meeting or personal event, while the catering establishment Bistro (46 m2) with an outdoor terrace will cater to your culinary desires.
In the attic, the prestigious Apartment Marija**** spans over 65 m2, offering the best views among the treetops with a touch of a relaxing forest bath. The apartment boasts exceptional interior design, privacy, and a wellness experience with a Turkish sauna and a Japanese toilet.
